Innovation Fund Denmark is working on a two-stroke, ammonia-fueled engine through a consortium led by MAN Energy Solutions, including Eltronic FuelTech, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and DNV GL. The engine is scheduled to be delivered by 2024.

Posted on - 2020-10-21The RRS Sir David Attenborough, now beginning its sea trials, is the largest vessel yet by builder Cammell Laird, taking four years at a cost of £200 million. Heading from Birkenhead to Liverpool, it will depart along the Welsh coast to Holyhead, where it will be stationed for the coming year.
There, tests will be undertaken with all the vessel's systems and equipment before departing to the Arctic and the Antarctic, accommodating dozens of researchers within its 129m-long, 15,000-tonne capacity. The vessel is the largest commercial ship built in Britain in 30 years, including a helipad, cranes and onboard labs, the ability to deploy subs and other ocean-survey and sampling equipment, and an enclosed "moon pool" to sample ocean water.

Posted on - 2020-10-21Cathay Dragon, a full service regional carrier flying primarily to China and mainland Asia, is being shuttered and Cathay Pacific hopes to retain most of it’s routes.
Reduced revenue due to travel restrictions to limit the pandemic have not been able to meet recurring costs, despite deferring aircraft deliveries, implementing special leave schemes, and cutting executive pay. The airline group has been losing as much as $260m a month but will reduce costs by $64m a month in 2021. 8,500 positions are being eliminated, with 5,300 jobs from Hong Kong, accounting for around 24% of Cathay Pacific’s total staff.
"This crisis is deeper, and the road to recovery slower and more patchy than anyone thought possible just a few months ago," said a Cathay Pacific representative. The aviation sector is struggling globally given the safety & biosecurity regulations stringently imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
