IMO Shipping Emissions Roadmap

 IMO Shipping Emissions Roadmap

PIDF - Pacific Maritime Technical Officers Workshop

7th – 9th February 2018 |Fiji

The Government of France, through its partnership agreement with the Government of Fiji, has secured the expert services of the Pacific Island Development Forum (PIDF), Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF), University of the South Pacific/Micronesian Center for Sustainable Transport (USP/MCST) and University College of London (UCL) to coordinate and conduct this workshop. PIDF, through Fiji’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, is supporting member Pacific delegations participating in developing a strategic IMO Roadmap to address the reduction of inter-national maritime greenhouse gas emissions.

The workshop is focused on the next phase of the IMO roadmap at the 3rd Intercessional Working Group and the Marine Environment Protection Committee in April 2018, but will also provide an overview and analysis of the relevant debates and outcomes of MEPC 68 to 71 and strategic thinking on future Pacific participation in the roadmap through to MEPC 78.

An overview of the workshop with links to the speeches and presentations is available on the PIDF website: http://greenbusiness.solutions/pacific-maritime-technical-officers-workshop-shipping-emissions-7-9-february-2018/.
