SSTT2012 was the first international conference to address low carbon sea transport transition in the region since 2012. USP hosted this event in partnership with UCN, WWF and the Fiji Islands Voyaging Society. The Talanoa was widely attended by leading research and innovators from the Pacific and the global community and convened with two key aims:

• To begin a conversation amongst key stakeholders to prepare for a low-carbon sea-transport future for the Pacific.
• To prepare for a major regional conference, bringing together heritage, culture, science, policy, and industry to celebrate Oceania’s seafaring heritage and set a blue-print for a sustainable seafaring future.
