Ten containers of watermelons scheduled to be shipped to New Zealand on Dec. 5th following granting of a temporary export permit were delayed, as transport the melons to the wharf in Tongatapu did not arrive to the growers' farms to pick up the produce. It is unclear why the trucks did not arrive, but the ship left to New Zealand without the melons.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is providing a $US45 million grant to the Government of Tonga to help rehabilitate and improve operations at the capital's Queen Salote Wharf under the new Nuku'alofa Port Upgrade Project. The project intends to accommodate larger ships, reduce costs, and protect against natural disasters and climate change.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) of Thailand has launched eight 47.5ft fiberglass vessels through the MariArt Shipyard, replacing the previous 205hp diesel engines with twin Torqeedo Cruise 10kW electric outboards, powered by 12 Power 24-3500 lithium batteries and four fast chargers.
