The 22nd meeting of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board discussed the Fund’s first replenishment and strategic programming, and steps required to strengthen operations, reinforce standards and close policy gaps. The Board approved: nine new climate resilience and low greenhouse gas (GHG) emission projects totaling USD 440 million in GCF resources; and applications for accredited entities from Armenia, Australia, Benin, Luxembourg, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, New Caledonia and Pakistan. The Board also announced Yannick Glemarec as the new GCF Executive Director.

 Some new footage published by Korean media today gives us new  look at the mayhem that went down last week in Busan as a Russian cargo ship hit moored sailboat before alliding with a bridge.

As we reported, the 5,998-ton MV Seagrand ran into the side of the Gwangan Bridge near Busan, South Korea last Thursday afternoon. Upon boarding the vessel, the Coast Guard found that the Russian captain had a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit. It was also reported that the ship had hit a moored charter boat before alliding with the bridge. A video of the ship hitting the bridge went viral.

Court proceedings have reopened into Papua New Guinea's deadliest maritime disaster. The Rabaul Queen inter-island ferry sank seven years ago with an official death toll of 172 although many believe this figure to be higher.

After the ship owner and captain were cleared of manslaughter charges in 2017, the public prosecutor discontinued proceedings.
