Fiji Public Accounts Committee reviews Traffic Congestion

The Public Accounts Committee has tabled in parliament a report on the review of the Management of Traffic Congestion, recommending revisions of the Bicycle Act, introductions of bicycle lanes, introducing sensor traffic lights that change based on the number of vehicles on the road, and a dedicated bus lane in largely populated towns and cities. The Committee also suggests closing one opposite lane during peak hours. These measures have been recommended to relieve traffic congestion, which has been increasing in severity over the previous decade due to continued growth of the registered vehicle fleet in Fiji.
