LNG Not Tenable as "Transition Fuel" Claims Maersk

Maersk announced plans for a carbon neutral methanol-fueled container ship to operate by 2023 alongside an investment in CO2-free green ammonia. While many of the world’s largest liners have made some LNG-powered investments, particularly CMA CGM - the biggest adherent LNG, with 32 of its ships set to be powered by LNG by Q4 2022 - Maersk has avoided LNG investment..

Clarkson Research Services reports that 27% of all ships gross tonnage on order are intended to be LNG-fuel capable.
