In a clear example of the need for strengthened, low emission/cost inter-island shipping, the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has announced consumers in the Northern Division are being deprived of benefits of cheaper freight and shipping costs.

Cost reductions are not being conferred to the consumers, and an inquiry into the need for more stringent regulations is now underway.
