Engine Failure on Australian-Financed Vessel Sends Samoan PM and Cabinet ashore in Lifeboat

The Samoan Prime Minister and five Cabinet ministers returned to shore in a life boat after the police patrol boat, Nafanua 11 - recently delivered under an Australian development programme - faced engine failure outside Apia Harbour.

Nafanua 11 was delivered last year under the Australian Governments assistance for Samoa to patrol its borders and its fishing zone. Additional details on the nature of the engine issues and evaluation of other vessels delivered as part of this program have yet to be provided.
