Water Taxi Services Proliferate in Kadavu

Villagers in Kadavu are purchasing fiberglass boats to earn money transporting people wanting to travel across the islands.

The majority of the boat owners turned to the transporting business after their farms were severely affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa and Ana last month. Villagers depend on them for daily travel and more people have shown interest in the business over the past few months, claiming potential earnings of more than $100 per day.

This illustrates the need for robust maritime transport, and the opportunities for decarbonized sea transport can help improve the profit margins of providing this service.
