Investment in Decarbonization Falling Short in Global Recovery Spending

Efforts by governments in COVID-related economic packages are failing to reach the levels of green spending seen following the 2008 financial crisis, with only 12% of spending going towards low-carbon projects, such as renewable energy and clean technology, compared to 16% after 2008.

 

The overall sums this time are also much higher, which means that the total amount of green stimulus spending today is more than three times as high as it was 12 years ago.
