Logging Ship Oil Spill Issue in Solomon Islands

Solomon Islands will prosecute the captain of bulk carrier, MV Quebec, for discharging oil in a remote and pristine part of the country, Temotu Province.

Islanders spotted dead fish on their coastline and an oil slick stretching over two kilometres, and Solomon Islands Maritime Authority (SIMA) discovered heavy fuel oil and oily water released into the sea during a clean-up on board the vessel.
