Norwegian Autonomous Electric Ferries to be Constructed in India

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CLS) in India received a contract to supply two autonomous electric ferries to Norwegian operator ASKO Maritime, with an option for two more, if required.

Partially funded by the Norwegian government, the shipyard says the 67m vessels will initially be delivered as piloted electric ferries, with 1,846kWh capacity battery systems. Each ferry will have a capacity of 16 tractor/trailer units.
