Minister Christopher Loeak Reminds Global Community of Paris Agreement Commitments

Minister in Assistance to the President and Minister for the Environment of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Christopher Loeak, insists in his recently published Op-Ed in the UK's Independent, "Coronavirus stimulus spending must put the climate emergency at its very core. In “building back better” to ensure our planet’s long-term sustainability, we have an obligation not to waste this opportunity."

During his tenure as 6th President of the Marshall Islands, Minister Loeak's administration was instrumental in forming the High Ambition Coalition, spearheaded in large part by his own Minister in Assistance to the President from 2012-2014, the late Tony DeBrum. His statement to the world serves as a reminder of the commitments made, which cannot be lost sight of in the face of grappling with the global COVID-19 pandemic.
