Ammonia Fuel Logistics Chain Considered

Following the ammonia fuel trials announced in Japan, a new report by Alfa Laval, Hafnia, Haldor Topsoe, Vestas and Siemens Gamesa suggests renewably generated ammonia fuels could power up to 30% of the global maritime fleet by 2050. The report suggests the construction of 150m tonnes/year of production capacity alongside supply chain development will make green ammonia cost-competitive with today's existing oil bunker prices.

Today’s conventional ammonia costs are comparable to Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) or Marine Gasoil (MGO).
