Kiribati ferry disaster report finds boat unseaworthy and rescue effort slow

A former president of Kiribati says the investigation into last year's ferry disaster has found the boat was unseaworthy and the rescue effort slow.

More than 80 people died when the MV Butiraoi sank soon after it left the island of Nonouti bound for the the capital Tarawa in January last year.

The President's Office has released hard copies of the Commission of Inquiry report into the tragedy but they can only be viewed in two locations and people can't make copies or take notes.
